CONVERSATIONAL ITALIAN
The Center for Italian and Italian American Studies is back with this program that allows you to learn how to converse in Italian with native speakers. That’s the first and third Thursday of every month in the Conference Room in back of the Pio Costa Auditorium at 7:00 pm.

Whether you speak well or wish to improve your speaking skills, this is an opportunity to meet other Italophiles to practice, improve and keep your Italian conversation skills alive. A native speaker and experienced facilitator is present to guide the conversation in a relaxed and social setting.

CIIAC is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting and preserving the Italian language, culture and heritage. This activity is open to the general public and is free.

"THE WRITER'S GROUP"
Our writers gather together to critique each other’s work and offer helpful suggestions. If you have a book chapter or short story you’d like to submit for review, bring your idea to the next group meeting.

Meetings are the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 7:30 PM in the Conference Room. A few spots in this group are still open but membership will be limited.

BOOK CLUBS

MONTVILLE LIBRARY'S FIRST TUESDAY BOOK CLUB

Tuesday, March 2nd, 1:00 pm • Biography Room - The First Tuesday Book Club's March selection is "Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel" by Jeannette Walls. No registration is required and adults of all ages are welcome. Join us for lively discussions on great contemporary literature.

"Lily survived tornadoes, droughts, floods, the Great Depression, and the most heartbreaking personal tragedy. She bristled at prejudice of all kinds -- against women, Native Americans, and anyone else who didn't fit the mold. Rosemary Smith Walls always told Jeannette that she was like her grandmother, and in this true-life novel, Jeannette Walls channels that kindred spirit. Half Broke Horses is Laura Ingalls Wilder for adults, as riveting and dramatic as Isak Dinesen's Out of Africa or Beryl Markham's West with the Night. Destined to become a classic, it will transfix audiences everywhere." (from the publisher's website)

April's book selection is "Kabul Beauty School: An American Woman Goes Behind the Veil" by Deborah Rodriguez and Kristin Ohlson

MONTVILLE LIBRARY'S EVENING BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

Tuesday, March 16th, 7:30 pm • Biography Room - Come to the first session of the library's new Evening Book Discussion Group! Bring a book to share and vote to choose selections for the next few months.
