NAME
THE MASCOTS CONTEST
Our
talented summer mascots need names. What names will you
suggest for the writer penguin, the actress skunk, the
musician panda, the dancer Zebra and the painter raccoon?
Meet them in person starting June 13. Entries must be
submitted by Saturday, June 27 and the winners will be
announced Tuesday, June 30. Notification will be by phone.

Dorothy
and Claude are back with Eight weeks of mind busting puzzlers
including Dorothy Reads (Name where the book Dorothy is
reading each week takes place), Claude’s Movie Picks
(name Claude’s favorite films from these pictures),
and Look Familiar? (identify each week’s famous
work of art). There’s a new set of puzzles each
Monday and six winners each week. All other correct entries
go into the Final Curtain Drawing

Exploring Art
Children
entering grades K, 1, 2 and 3 can sign-up to create
their own fun works of art inspired by world famous
artists. Join us foe one session or all seven. Tuesdays
at 11:30 in the Storytime Room. You Must Register. Ask
for a flier with full details at the Children’s
Desk.
Budding
Authors
Aspiring writers entering grades 4, 5 and 6 can sign
up to write an original story and make it into a book
during a seven week workshop from June 23 to August
6. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30PM in the Storytime
Room. You Must Register. Please
sign-up only if you intend to complete the program.
How
to Participate in the Summer Reading Program
adapted from the 2009 time charts
Every time you read for about 15 minutes color in one
of the stars on the chart in your booklet. Fill in as
many spaces as you need to for the time you have spent
reading. You may fill in more than one row a week. Ask
for any additional time chart pages you may need
Starting
Mon., June 22, 2009 bring this chart back to the library
once a week to be stamped. 90 minutes a week earns readers
one coupon for a treat from a local sponsor from the
prize bag, [one coupon per week per member] and one
croc button (one a week). 90 minutes a week earns Pre-Readers
one item from the prize basket, [one prize per week
per member] and one croc button (one a week)
Every
90 minutes is an entry into the Final Curtain Call Drawing
to be held Sat., August 8 at 2:00PM. More than one Drawing
entry many be earned each week.
Coupons
for missed weeks may not be claimed. Coupons are only
available during regular library hours.
Bonus
Prizes: Any time beyond 90 minutes each week
counts towards bonus prizes at the end of the program.
A total of 15 hours during the summer earns one prize.
Every 25 hours earns one additional prize. Bonus prizes
may be claimed starting Mon., Aug. 10 through Sat.,
Sept. 19, 2009.
Notes
to Parents/Guardians:
Coupons, prizes, programs requiring registration and
all other incentives are available to members only.
Performances,
speakers, storytimes, crafts and all activities not
requiring registration are open to the general public.
One
coupon per week per registered member. Coupons are for
members only. Booklets must be presented to claim coupons.
Coupons may not be claimed for a missed week; however,
an appropriate adult may claim a coupon for an absent
child. Coupons are only available during regular library
hours.
Audio
books may be counted only for a total of 180 minutes
over the duration of the program, unless other arrangements
are made with the librarian.
