About Us
At the Montville Library, we have more than just
books (95,112 in our collection) and over 150 different magazines. We have
a large selection of Audio Books on Tape and CD and a Large up to date Video
Tape library. We also have a growing Chinese book collection, Chinese
newspapers, and many resources (books, tapes, videos) for English as a Second
Language programs.
The Mission of the
Montville Township Public Library
The Montville Township Public
Library is committed to meeting the diverse informational, educational,
cultural, and recreational needs of all township residents. This is achieved by:

making accessible to all, vital materials whether in print or alternate
forms.

personal education and enrichment, scheduling public activities and
providing services designed to create positive learning experience.

community which encourage public interest in literacy and learning.

If we don't have what you're looking for in our
collection, you can try another library in the county.
Simply request the items from our online catalog.
You will receive an automated
phone call when your items are available for pickup here
at the Montville Township Public Library, and they will be held for you for seven days.
If you
are looking for a book that is not listed in our catalog,
you can try to borrow it from libraries outside Morris County. Please request the book
through
JerseyCat, New Jersey's interlibrary loan system (you
will need to create your own username and password for this
service).
You will receive an automated phone call when your book
is available for pickup here at the Montville Township
Public Library, and it will be held for you for seven days.
These items borrowed from outside the county cannot be renewed.
Any questions regarding JerseyCat requests should be
directed to the Reference Department at ext. 227.

Library Cards |
|
Library cards are issued free to all residents of
Montville Township. To apply please have some form of identification. The
preferred form of identification is a New Jersey driver’s license. The secondary
form is a current (within the past few months) utility bill or a current tax
bill. The tertiary form is a current passport. Children can obtain cards at age
six (6). A parent or guardian must be present and show a valid form of
identification. Parents are responsible for any materials checked out by
their children.
Your library card must be presented every time you check out library
materials. Your library card can be used at any library in Morris
County. Replacement fee for a card is $3.00 for an adult and $1.00 for
children.

items may be renewed once (except magazines, DVD's, and
videos, which may not be renewed.
Audiovisual
materials may be returned at any library in Morris County.

Meeting Rooms |
|
The meeting rooms at Montville Twp Public Library’s Pio Costa
Auditorium are available to individuals and groups from
Montville who can present a tax exempt number as a non-profit
and who fulfill minimum insurance liability requirements.
Rooms are available during Library hours only; Wednesday is
set aside for Library programs. Library and official township
business have first priority. If you would like to schedule a
meeting, just download this two page form and mail/bring it
with your tax exempt number and your insurance certificate to
the Director's office. You may also call Allan Kleiman at
973-402-0900 ext. 223 or email him at (allan.kleiman@montvillelib.org).

Public Access Computers |
There are several Public Access Computers that can be
used by the public for a variety of things from word processing,
spreadsheets, surfing the web, or looking up materials in our collection. Each
patron is allowed one 30 minute session. Printing is $0.10 a page. We ask that
all public computer users be at least 9 years old and present a valid Library
Card. Computers are available in the children’s library for children under 9. |

Renewals |
|
A
patron may renew his or her books electronically from
home or office computer by going to the library website
and clicking on the “web catalog.” By going
in to “My account,” a patron may bring up
their account and renew their books using their library
card number and pin number. If you don’t know your
pin number, call the circulation desk for assistance (ext.
228). Items will not be renewable if there is a prior
hold on it.

Note: a book received outside of the M.A.I.N. system
is non-renewable.

Reserves |
|
Under “my account,”
patrons can place their holds electronically using their
barcode and pin number. If you need assistance placing
a hold, please call the reference desk at ext. 227. You
will be notified via a telephone call and by e-mail notification
when the material is available. The item will be held
for 7 days.
Please note:
There is a suggested limit of 5 reserves per week.
